SMART AIRnet brings greater visibility to compressed air networks

Atlas Copco has introduced SMART AIRnet, an intelligent pipework monitoring solution designed to give manufacturers a clearer understanding of how compressed air is distributed and used throughout their facilities.

Many compressed air systems are already monitored at the point of generation, but the distribution network itself has often remained largely unseen. SMART AIRnet addresses this challenge by integrating connected sensors directly into the compressed air pipework, providing continuous insight into system performance from the compressor room right through to the point of use.

The system collects real-time data on key operating parameters including pressure, flow, energy consumption and air quality. This information helps businesses gain a more complete picture of how their compressed air system is performing across the entire network.

Identifying losses and improving efficiency

Compressed air leaks, pressure drops and inefficient air usage can have a significant impact on energy costs and overall system performance. In larger or more complex installations, these issues can often go unnoticed for long periods.

By monitoring conditions at multiple locations throughout the pipework network, SMART AIRnet can highlight unusual changes in pressure, flow and energy consumption. This enables maintenance teams to investigate potential issues more quickly and target resources where they are most needed.

The result is a more proactive approach to system optimisation, helping businesses reduce waste, improve efficiency and maintain reliable operation.

Integrated with SmartLink

SMART AIRnet works alongside Atlas Copco's SmartLink remote monitoring platform, allowing users to access performance data through a single, easy-to-use interface.

With system information available in real time, maintenance teams can monitor trends, receive alerts and identify developing issues before they lead to increased operating costs or unplanned downtime.

Supporting air quality compliance

In addition to monitoring system performance, SMART AIRnet can also track compressed air quality through integrated air quality monitoring devices. Continuous measurement of factors such as moisture content helps protect equipment, support product quality and provide valuable data for air quality management and compliance activities.
