Having worked in compressed air for over 40 years, Dave has built up a wealth of knowledge and experience. His passion for delivering excellence and his dedication to compressed air is now helping to strengthen the PPS Hull team.

Name: Dave Green

Background:
Dave started his career as an apprentice with one year off the job EITB (Engineering Industry Training Board) broad based training at Newark college. This led into three years working at Compressor Care doing day release and night school. He stayed there as a Field Service Engineer until 1990 when he got the opportunity to move to Anglair as the Service Supervisor.

In 2000 he moved to Compressor Services East Midlands Ltd as Service Manager. When Compressor Services was sold to HOERBIGER in 2004, Dave stayed on, having a successful career there for 24 years.

Working as Service Manager until 2007, Dave managed a team of 20 on projects across the UK and Europe. In 2007 he moved to a new role at HOERBIGER, Project / Service Engineer. This involved overseeing projects in the oil and gas industry and power generation.

From 2010 to 2024 Dave worked as Field Service Supervisor, on site supervision in the oil and gas industry and power generation. This included 12 years being offshore trained, regularly going offshore to supervise projects.

Turning 60, Dave decided he didn’t want to be offshore and away from home as much, but he still really enjoyed project work. A role at PPS came up and it was the perfect fit for Dave. Now, after two years in the team he is in the perfect position to take on additional responsibilities and lead the Hull branch.

Role:
“I’m a central contact for the team, bringing them together to deliver compressed air support that our customers can truly rely on. While my additional responsibilities mean I oversee everything within the Hull branch, it’s the teamwork that really makes it happen.

“Since I started leading the team, that teamwork has ensured we could get a customer back up and running quickly after an emergency on site, it’s also meant we could stay on top of several large existing customers and all while maintaining the servicing schedules for our wide base of customers across the Humber region.

“It’s not an easy feat as a small branch team but, with the support from the wider PPS team, our customers know they can trust us to get the job done.

“We’re currently recruiting for a new Field Service Engineer to work from our Hull branch; this will further enhance the service we offer.”

Most rewarding part of the job:
“Customer satisfaction. I still get a buzz when things go right, we solve customers’ problems and complete the jobs.

“For me it’s the simplicity of doing the right thing and doing it well. The team we have in branch are focused on this and it brings a really positive atmosphere to the job.”

When not at work you’ll find him:
“I’m a Nottingham Forest fan, always have been. I used to religiously go to the games but spending years working away from home you get out of the habit of going. By the same token, after all that time away, I now appreciate just spending time at home, relaxing and making the most of the downtime.”
