Our Christmas Elves have been busy over the past few weeks, spreading some Christmas cheer and generosity in our communities.
A couple of years ago we swapped corporate gifts for Christmas donations within our local community. This year has been the first year since switching that we have been able to get out and volunteer as well.
With so many local causes in need of some extra hands in the lead up to Christmas, we have done what we can, with our team offering extra support to these causes.
Thank you to the Community Foundation for Calderdale and HEY Smile Foundation for helping to connect us with local charities.
This is what we have been up to…
Volunteering
- Kim, Matt, Andy and Ami helped at the Halifax Minster to get all the Christmas trees lit up for their Christmas Tree Festival.
- Richard helped to deliver some gifts to Calder Community Cares for Halifax BID, as part of their gifting tree initiate.
- Jeff and Ami helped wrapping presents with St Augustine’s Centre, for refugees and asylum seekers in Calderdale. St Augustine’s had about 500 presents to wrap so extra help was greatly appreciated!
- After Christmas our Sheffield branch are helping with three days of Christmas tree collecting for Bluebell Wood’s Children Hospice in January.
Donations
- Norman Walker supported local charity Freedom Road Creative Arts, by donating for their Christmas party. The charity aims to make a positive difference in the lives of children and young people, to empower, raise confidence and give a voice to them primarily through the creative and performing arts.
- Compcon have donated £500 to Guru Nanak’s Mission, Nottingham, a charity that is close to their hearts, where team member Ady Hillier regularly volunteers.
- We donated £500 to Oastlers School. We are happy to be long term supporters of Oastlers and support their Christmas Hamper Raffle each year.
- Our Leigh branch donated £500 to Homeless Support Project (HSP). HSP is a charity that helps the homeless and needing in the community around our Leigh branch, with the aim to make the world a better place for vulnerable and homeless people.
- Both the Brighouse and Sheffield branches have given their £500 donations to local food banks. Focus4Hope in Brighouse and Rotherham Foodbank, which is actually one of the closest to the Sheffield branch!
We would like to wish everyone in our community a very merry Christmas and happy, healthy and prosperous new year.
