Quiet and reliable workshop compressor gets joinery team back on track

Amaya Evans |

Industry

A joinery company based in Warrington.

Situation

The customer was experiencing operational challenges with their ageing air compressors, including noise and water in their airlines due to no refrigerant dryer and high operational temperatures. The existing system comprised of two old piston air compressors, with only one unit able to run.

Task

PPS was called in to recommend an appropriate solution for the customer. They needed a reliable and compliant solution to address their ongoing issues.

Action

Following a system analysis, PPS proposed the installation of an Atlas Copco G4FF air compressor. The customer approved the recommendation, and the new compressor was promptly installed. To optimise air distribution and minimise pressure drop, PPS installed a Transair pipework ring main. An oil water separator was also included with the system design, ensuring the system was compliant with water resource regulations. The customer then joined an Air Protect Service Plan to cover them for routine maintenance and servicing of the air compressor.

Results

  • A safer working environment, with noise reduction from 102dba to 69 dba.
  • A compliant, modernised and more efficient machine.
  • Improved reliability of the system.
  • Ability to operate the machine only when it is needed.
